Role Overview
The Termite Technician is responsible for safeguarding customer properties from termites and other wood-destroying organisms. Technicians act as the first line of defense by inspecting, preventing, and treating infestations, thereby ensuring customers' peace of mind and comfort.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose termite issues by understanding termite behavior and determining appropriate remediation strategies.
- Perform termite treatment procedures safely and in compliance with company standards and label instructions.
- Apply anti-termite treatments on structures according to scheduled plans and safety protocols.
- Communicate with customers regarding factors encouraging termite activity, discuss treatment procedures, and suggest structural changes if necessary.
- Confirm each work order accurately matches the job specifications.
- Operate and maintain service vehicles and equipment properly.
- Complete documentation and production forms detailing services provided.
- Engage with customers to explain the services delivered.
Physical and Environmental Requirements
- Adapt to varying environmental conditions including seasonal weather and damp or dusty environments.
- Prepare job sites adequately prior to treatments.
- Enter and exit confined spaces such as crawl spaces, climb on structures and ladders, often up to 20 feet high.
- Must be comfortable working in tight areas and elevated locations.
- Experience with general labor tasks such as carpentry, cement work, roofing, gutter maintenance, or attic work is advantageous.
- Regular physical activity including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling is required.
- Wear personal protective equipment such as OSHA-compliant respirators and work safely in confined and narrow spaces.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Must have a clean-shaven face to ensure a proper respirator seal for safety.
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Valid driver's license from the state of residence is necessary.
- Minimum one year experience in customer service; prior termite control experience is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and eagerness to learn.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, primarily Monday through Friday with Saturdays as needed.
- Required licenses and certificates as mandated by federal, state, or local regulations will be provided.
- Basic math skills sufficient to follow product mixing instructions.
Compensation
Hourly pay ranges from $20 to $22, varying based on location, skills, education, experience, and potentially overtime, incentives or commissions. Candidates with handyman or construction backgrounds are highly encouraged to apply.
