Role Overview

We seek a proactive Technology Lead to oversee the entire engineering division. This role involves managing a small team of developers, actively contributing to feature development, and providing technical leadership across diverse areas such as e-commerce platforms, ERP customizations, payment system integrations, and automation initiatives. The position is largely hands-on, prioritizing code development alongside ensuring team delivery efficiency and quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a small engineering team while establishing high standards for code quality, peer reviews, and project deliveries.
• Manage the performance, maintenance, and strategic roadmap for the e-commerce platform and ERP systems, including developing custom modules.
• Develop and maintain system integrations including payment gateways, buy-now-pay-later services, logistics partners, messaging services, and internal middleware.
• Design and implement internal web and mobile applications to optimize sales, operational workflows, and customer support processes.
• Automate workflows to minimize manual operations across various departments.
• Evaluate and incorporate AI solutions, such as conversational commerce tools, Arabic-language AI assistants, and productivity applications.
• Ensure the reliability, security, and controlled deployment of production systems.
• Translate business objectives into clear technical goals and communicate progress effectively with senior leadership.

Candidate Profile

• Minimum of 6 years in software engineering with at least 2 years in a leadership or mentorship role.
• Proficient in modern backend programming languages like PHP, Python, or Node.js alongside JavaScript or TypeScript.
• Practical experience working with e-commerce platforms and ERP systems.
• Demonstrated expertise in integrating third-party APIs including payment gateways, BNPL options, webhooks, and RPC/REST APIs.
• Strong knowledge of relational databases, background processing, and debugging live systems.
• Sound engineering judgment with focus on idempotency, rollback safety, and safe data writes in live environments.
• Ability to operate autonomously, prioritize effectively, and deliver rapidly in a fast-paced retail setting.
• Fluency in English is required; Arabic language skills are highly advantageous given the customer base.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with mobile application development, either native or cross-platform.
• Familiarity with right-to-left (RTL) and Arabic localization in digital products.
• Exposure to AI and large language model integrations such as chat assistants and commerce via messaging platforms.
• Background in retail, e-commerce, or logistics sectors within the GCC region is favorable.
