Technical Services Engineer

About the Role

Join MongoDB, a leader in data management software and the first database provider to IPO in over 20 years, at our Dublin office as a Technical Services Engineer. You will be part of an energetic, collaborative team working onsite five days a week with varying shifts including Tuesday–Saturday, Sunday–Thursday, or schedules covering weekends. Employees following weekend shifts are expected to work remotely two days per week under our hybrid model.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will leverage your deep technical expertise to assist customers running critical MongoDB workloads. Key duties include:

• Troubleshooting and resolving customer challenges related to architecture, security, recovery, and performance of MongoDB deployments
• Taking ownership of investigations from initial diagnosis through to effective resolution and providing clear, actionable recommendations
• Collaborating closely with Product Management and Engineering teams to represent customer needs and enhance MongoDB products
• Creating documentation, training materials, and tools while mentoring colleagues to elevate team technical standards

Required Experience and Skills

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

• Between five to six years of experience in roles such as technical support, systems engineering, database administration, site reliability engineering, or similar fields
• Hands-on experience managing and operating complex, mission-critical production databases
• Strong Linux system engineering capabilities encompassing performance tuning, memory, I/O, storage, networking, security, clustering, and troubleshooting
• Comprehensive knowledge of networking protocols and concepts like DNS, TCP/IP, and SSL/TLS
• Proficiency reading and scripting in at least one programming language such as Python, Java, JavaScript, Go, C++, or Ruby
• Ability to diagnose issues across diverse layers including application, database, OS, storage, and infrastructure
• Understanding of customer workload requirements including performance, availability, scalability, and security considerations
• Excellent communication skills with customers, strong prioritization and collaboration abilities, and sound judgment in seeking assistance when necessary

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Python and familiarity with agent frameworks like LangGraph or CrewAI
• Knowledge of distributed full-text, vector, or semantic search technologies such as Solr, Lucene, or MongoDB Vector Search
• Exposure to developing or supporting agentic AI applications, workflows, or integrations
• Experience working with large-scale relational or NoSQL databases
• Familiarity with MongoDB products, Git, LDAP, Kerberos, Active Directory, and major cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Skills in Kubernetes, containerization, enterprise operators, or secure multi-tenant infrastructure environments

Success Milestones

• Within three months: Complete New Hire Training and develop robust MongoDB knowledge and ecosystem understanding
• Within six months: Confidently handle customer cases across a variety of issues and earn the MongoDB Certified Associate Database Administrator certification
• Within one year: Provide advanced technical diagnostics support, mentor peers, and independently manage technical escalations

Work schedule: Five days per week with rotating shifts (Tue–Sat, Sun–Thu, or mixed including weekends). Employees on weekend schedules work from the office two days weekly under a hybrid arrangement.
