Senior Staff Product Manager, Query

Overview

MongoDB's Query Team is looking for an experienced Senior Staff Product Manager to lead product strategy and development for the company's scalable, modular distributed query engine and flexible query system. As the top product management authority in this domain, you will set multi-year strategic directions, define product architecture, and influence market positioning of the Query business unit.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and unify the product vision across various product segments on a multi-year roadmap to ensure a seamless and integrated experience.
• Lead major strategic initiatives by developing robust business cases and providing guidance on long-term economic outcomes to company leadership.
• Represent the voice of important clients through high-level engagement including advisory boards and executive presentations, identifying opportunities and shaping product planning.
• Drive excellence in product management by mentoring senior team members, developing data-driven methodologies, and establishing customer and market research frameworks.
• Collaborate effectively with directors and vice presidents to prioritize investments and deployment schedules across related portfolios including query, developer experience, and core database technologies.
• Serve as an industry ambassador for MongoDB’s product line at conferences, developer forums, and standards organizations.

Candidate Requirements

• Over 10 years of professional experience with significant leadership roles in product management, especially in platform, infrastructure, or database technologies.
• Exceptional communication skills, able to clearly explain complex technical subjects to varied stakeholders including executives.
• Proven track record of delivering complex projects, developing multi-year business cases, and executing strategic plans.
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong technical expertise in database query engines, query languages like SQL and MQL, distributed systems, developer tools, and possibly AI platforms or large language model orchestration.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degrees such as MBA, M.Sc., or Ph.D. in relevant fields.
• Experience working with MongoDB or similar non-relational databases.
• Successful leadership of products targeting developer audiences in dynamic growth environments.
• Familiarity with open-source and cloud-native technology landscapes.

Additional Information

This role is open for remote work across Canada, with flexible hybrid or in-office options where applicable.

The compensation package in Canada includes a base salary ranging from $173,000 to $240,000 CAD, along with possible equity, stock purchase plans, flexible time off, and comprehensive health benefits.
