Technical Product Owner – Data Science & AI Platform

Role Overview

The Emirates Group's Analytics Centre of Excellence (ACoE) centralizes data and analytics services to support business units in making informed decisions through comprehensive customer, operational, and market insights. As part of the Group's digital transformation, the ACoE drives the shift toward a data-centric organizational culture.

In the position of Technical Product Owner, you will serve as the primary interface for multiple product engineering teams. You will manage and prioritize backlogs encompassing new features, functional and non-functional requirements, maintenance tasks, technical debt, and team ceremonies. Acting as the "voice of the customer," you will collaborate with business partners to oversee the complete lifecycle of technology products and related applications within your domain, ensuring alignment with strategic goals from inception to operational delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage ownership of data and information products, ensuring alignment with enterprise data analytics strategies and architectures.
• Develop and sustain thorough business metadata documentation, including information matrices, entity definitions and relationships, KPIs, data dictionaries, and user manuals for your domain.
• Oversee user story creation, acceptance criteria, and final sign-offs across team backlogs; ensuring readiness and prioritization for upcoming Program Increments (PIs) through continuous refinement with teams.
• Ensure capture, refinement, and prioritization of technical debt and non-functional requirements across all development sprints.
• Incorporate business-as-usual activities, ceremonies, and exploratory spikes into team backlogs within capacity limits.
• Collaborate on PI demo preparations alongside other product owners.
• Maintain quality and integrity within technical and team domains by identifying and managing risks and dependencies reported to the Product Portfolio backlog.
• Actively participate in key Product Management meetings, notably PI Planning sessions.
• Define and use metrics to assess success and performance of prioritized tasks and facilitate ongoing business-as-usual enhancements within capacity boundaries.
• Engage in developing the Product Owner community, fostering role identity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Contribute to evolving Product Management Communities to enhance practice efficiency and empower teams.
• Collaborate with teams to identify and document innovative ideas for consolidation and sharing within the Technical Product Manager community.

Qualifications & Experience

• Possess a Degree or Honours qualification (minimum 12+3 years or equivalent).
• Hold over 5 years of professional experience in Information Technology.

Knowledge & Skills

• Background in Operations Research, Marketing Science, Information Systems, e-Commerce, or equivalent industry certifications combined with minimum 5 years relevant experience.
• Certified as a Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), SAFe Product Owner (SAFe), or Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO).
• At least two years of hands-on experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager, demonstrating measurable impacts and delivering results rapidly.
• Experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), managing multiple initiatives across roughly 50+ teams is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Technical or domain expertise coupled with broad knowledge, staying current on relevant regulations and their implications for Emirates Group.
• Proficient with tools related to Product Management for software delivery.
• Strong, clear communicator capable of engaging peers, stakeholders, and leadership effectively.
• Proven ability to build solid relationships within teams and across peers.
• Customer-centric mindset focused on identifying and delivering value.

Role-Specific Expertise

• Good understanding of transaction systems as data sources and associated business workflows.
• Knowledge of data and key performance indicators used in airline and ground handling sectors.
• Familiarity with modern data architectures and technologies.
• Advanced analytical skills with a focus on insight generation.
• Experience in Business Intelligence applications and design principles.
