Role Responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior engineers during the technical design phase to analyse application requirements.
• Deliver low-level designs and develop secure, optimized code for small to medium initiatives following Emirates Group coding standards.
• Participate independently in coding, implementation, and maintenance of software solutions.
• Engage in rotational on-call duties to handle production issues effectively within SLA, requiring minimal supervision.
• Ensure quality by enforcing 100% unit testing as part of CI/CD pipelines.
• Analyze and resolve defects efficiently with minimal rework and apply code refactoring to minimize technical debt.
• Implement logging and monitoring hooks within developed code for observability.
• Keep abreast of current technologies and incorporate improvements that enhance code quality.
• Adhere strictly to Emirates Group IT standards, contribute to software engineering playbooks and best practices documentation.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Degree or honours (12+3 or equivalent) in Computer Science, Computational Mathematics, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of hands-on experience in Java full stack development.
• Proficient with Back End Technologies: Java 8+, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, SOAP, Microservices, design patterns, and API-first design approaches.
• Experienced with Front End Technologies such as React.js and Angular.js.
• Familiar with relational databases (Oracle, MariaDB, SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (Couchbase, MongoDB, Elastic Search, GraphQL).
• Knowledgeable in Cloud Platforms including AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
• Experienced in DevOps tools: GitLab, Docker, OpenShift, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Splunk, JIRA, Confluence, Spinnaker, with experience in Continuous Delivery.
• Build tools familiarity: Maven, Gradle.
• Quality assurance tools: SonarQube.
• Experience providing production support within ITIL frameworks, including monitoring, self-healing, and use of observability tools.
• Expertise in modern engineering practices like lean software development, test-driven development, and CI/CD processes to maintain robust, reliable codebases.
• Exposure to Test Data Management, Service Virtualization, Mocks, and Simulators is a plus.
