Role Overview
The Technical Lead position involves taking charge of the technical design and delivery of significant products and engineering initiatives used by millions across Southeast Asia. This hands-on role requires designing scalable and reliable backend, frontend, API, database, and infrastructure systems, participating actively in coding, prototyping, code reviews, debugging, and resolving production issues. The incumbent will lead architectural decisions balancing speed, scalability, reliability, cost, and maintainability, transforming unclear product requirements into concrete technical solutions and implementation strategies. The role also includes enhancing engineering quality via improved system design, testing, security, observability, and development standards, as well as mentoring engineers and spearheading critical technical projects.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum of seven years' experience in software engineering with a history of delivering production-quality systems.
- Expertise in backend and frontend development, distributed systems, API design, databases, or cloud infrastructure.
- Strong skills in designing architectures for complex or high-scale systems.
- Proficiency and enthusiasm for hands-on coding.
- Experience leading major engineering projects technically from design phase through to production.
- Ability to make informed technical trade-offs and influence engineering teams, adept at resolving sophisticated production challenges.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in scaling engineering teams, systems, or methodologies during significant growth periods.
- Background in managing projects that span multiple products, markets, or countries.
Working Conditions
This position is fully remote, with a globally distributed team working across several time zones. Candidates must be skilled at efficient collaboration within fast-moving, international teams.
English is the primary communication language; proficiency is necessary.
