Role Overview

Our Ground Engineering division provides comprehensive services across diverse sectors including energy, water, nuclear, defence, aviation, ports, data centres, highways, and rail. Services extend from feasibility and desktop studies to ground investigation, design, contract administration, and construction supervision. We work with major UK and international clients on significant projects such as national energy integrations, infrastructure upgrades, and regional developments.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical oversight and peer review of geotechnical data, analyses, and design calculations, ensuring sound engineering principles are applied.
• Advise clients and partners throughout project phases including site selection, option evaluations, design, and construction stages.
• Manage geotechnical projects by planning, scheduling, coordinating resources to meet objectives within timelines and budgets.
• Provide strong leadership and support to the Ground Engineering team to secure project completion aligned with quality and client expectations.
• Develop and nurture client relationships to enhance business growth and maintain a robust project pipeline.
• Lead delivery of multidisciplinary projects by collaborating with various internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Mentor junior engineers and team members, fostering their professional development and growth.

Qualifications and Skills

• Degree in Civil Engineering or Engineering Geology/Geology with at least a 2:1 classification or equivalent.
• Advanced degree such as MSc or MEng in Soil Mechanics, Geotechnical Engineering, or Engineering Geology is preferred.
• Chartered status is required.
• In-depth knowledge of UK ground conditions and ground investigation practices.
• Understanding of contemporary design codes, standards, and emerging best practices in geotechnical engineering.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in project delivery, business development, and maintaining client satisfaction.
• Expertise in interpreting ground conditions and deploying parametric assessment techniques relevant to geotechnical design challenges.
• Strong networking skills to promote the firm within local, regional, and national markets.
• Insightful decision-making capabilities to identify opportunities and challenges.
• Commitment to developing future leaders within the team.
