Swimming Instructor

Role Overview

The Swimming Instructor is responsible for providing exemplary swimming lessons to both children and adults of all proficiency levels. This position involves not only teaching but also enhancing swimmer skills, ensuring water safety, engaging with members, and supporting the expansion of the Swim programme. Reporting to the Academy Manager, the instructor collaborates with various team members including coaches, administrators, sales personnel, members, and parents.

Swimming Instruction Responsibilities

• Conduct individual and group swimming sessions catering to all skill levels.
• Create progressive and structured lesson plans that align with swimmer abilities and an established learn-to-swim curriculum.
• Educate learners on water safety, stroke techniques, and overall swimming proficiency to a high standard.
• Ensure lessons comply with the Society Academy's safety guidelines.

Progress Monitoring and Assessment

• Track swimmers' development and give constructive feedback to both swimmers and their parents.
• Evaluate swimmer levels and suggest appropriate stages and program upgrades.
• Keep meticulous records of attendance, progress, and stage completions.

Pool Safety and Oversight

• Guarantee safety of swimmers during instructional and pool activities.
• Assist in general pool supervision and enforce pool rules and safety standards.
• Inspect equipment and report any issues concerning maintenance or safety.
• Act promptly in response to emergencies following safety protocols.

Member Engagement and Programme Development

• Advocate for the Swim programme and encourage participation among diverse age groups.
• Help with enrollment processes, retention efforts, and converting trial sessions and assessments into memberships.
• Foster strong relationships with members and parents to enhance retention and referrals.
• Contribute to holiday camps, competitions, seasonal activities, and other academy events.

Safeguarding and Team Collaboration

• Adhere strictly to the Society’s policies on safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.
• Maintain professional conduct and appearance consistent with the premium brand of the Society.
• Work collaboratively with academy staff to ensure an exceptional academy experience.
• Engage in workshops, ongoing training, and continual professional development within aquatics.

Experience and Qualifications

• Must possess a recognized swimming teaching qualification such as Swim England/ASA Level 2, STA Level 2, or an equivalent certification.
• Minimum of two years teaching swimming to children and adults across various age ranges and abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Preferred certifications include Lifeguard, First Aid, and CPR.
• Experience working in the GCC or Qatar is an advantage; knowledge of multiple languages or Arabic is a plus.
• Flexibility to work during early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays is required.
