Survey QA/QC & Reporting Specialist

Overview

This position is created to implement a rigorous quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) process for survey reporting to ensure all deliverables related to surveys, geophysical and hydrographic data, ROV support, and pipeline and structural inspections undergo thorough technical verification. The goal is to ensure compliance with client standards, traceability, and readiness for final submission.

Key Duties

• Ensure integrity of field data by verifying completeness, traceability, and consistency across raw and processed survey data, logs, metadata, navigation, calibration, positioning records, and field reports ahead of acceptance.
• Review geophysical interpretations of side-scan sonar, multi-beam echo sounder, sub-bottom profiler, magnetometer, pipeline, and ROV-supported inspection data to confirm accurate classification and reporting of anomalies such as free spans, scours, debris, exposures, crossings.
• Conduct cross-validation of geophysical results with ROV records including videos, photos, event logs, and as-built/client data to detect and resolve discrepancies before report finalization.
• Support tender and project phases by evaluating assumptions, surveying approaches, reporting requirements, deliverable matrices, and client expectations to integrate QA/QC into project workflows from inception.
• Develop and enforce formal acceptance criteria and checklists for survey reports tailored to individual scopes, ensuring inclusion of essential content such as drawings, charts, mosaics, event and anomaly registers, and appendices.
• Oversee subcontractor survey processing and reporting to verify competence, appropriateness of software tools, deliverable quality, version controls, and responsiveness to feedback.
• Manage technical non-conformance reports (NCRs), observations, comments, and client queries; ensuring timely tracking and resolution related to survey deliverables.
• Maintain a lessons learned log to identify and mitigate recurring reporting issues through updates to templates, checklists, and verification steps.
• Ensure that survey and technical reports are accurate to prevent operational risks associated with seabed, pipeline, debris, obstruction, crossing, exposure, scour, and free span data.
• Promptly escalate any critical survey data inconsistencies that might impact diving, ROV operations, lifting, trenching, pipe-laying, vessel positioning, simultaneous operations, or subsea construction works.
• Identify opportunities for procedural and process improvements in data processing, develop necessary procedures, and oversee their implementation.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for survey and reporting quality, such as report rejection rates, client feedback volume, NCRs, rework hours, late submissions, and recurring issues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Surveying, Engineering, Geomatics, or a related discipline.
• 6 to 8 years of experience specifically in survey reporting and quality assurance roles.
• Proven offshore work experience in the Middle East region.
• Proficiency with MS Office suite, GIS tools, Adobe software, SonarWiz, EIVA NaviEdit/NaviModel, AutoCAD/Civil 3D, various GIS platforms, Qinsy/Qimera, and Fledermaus visualization software.
• Strong comprehension of hydrographic, geophysical, and pipeline inspection survey workflows, document control, revision and version management, and quality assurance systems including NCR and CAPA processes.
• Demonstrated ability in technical survey report writing paired with a strong QA mindset.
• Experience conducting seabed debris surveys and pipeline route survey activities on-site.
