Job Overview

This role involves overseeing the sourcing, procurement, and production coordination of fabrics and textile materials to ensure products meet quality and budgetary requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage sourcing and procurement of fabrics and materials aligned with product needs.
  • Select appropriate fabrics considering quality, budget, and product specifications.
  • Analyze fabric properties including construction, finishes, and applications.
  • Review fabric samples for production suitability.
  • Understand various textile production and finishing methodologies.
  • Provide advice on alternative fabrics or techniques when necessary.
  • Evaluate and collaborate with textile and production vendors.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier and manufacturer relationships.
  • Negotiate fabric and production rates to ensure cost-effectiveness.
  • Compare vendor quotations for best value.
  • Confirm vendor rates based on multiple commercial factors.
  • Stay informed about current vendor and market pricing.
  • Manage textile production from material selection to final product delivery.
  • Ensure vendors comply with specifications, material standards, and finishing requirements.
  • Track production progress and troubleshoot technical or material-related challenges.
  • Communicate with vendors to implement necessary changes or corrections.
  • Ensure production adheres to agreed specifications, budgets, and schedules.
  • Inspect fabrics and completed products to verify quality and uniformity.
  • Identify defects or deviations and coordinate corrective measures.
  • Ensure final product quality standards are met before acceptance.
  • Monitor recurring quality concerns related to specific vendors or materials.
  • Support management with final decisions regarding fabrics, vendors, pricing, and production techniques.
  • Evaluate commercial impacts of fabric and production options.
  • Maintain accurate records of vendor pricing, material costs, and production data.
  • Base pricing decisions on reliable market and vendor insights.
  • Safeguard confidential vendor, pricing, design, and production information.
