Role Purpose

As a Streetcare Operative in the Public Spaces team, you are essential in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and attractiveness of communities throughout Rhondda Cynon Taf, with a focus on parks and street cleansing. You will work both individually and with a committed frontline team to enhance the local environment, improving the quality of life for residents, visitors, and businesses.

Key Duties

• Perform a range of street cleaning tasks such as litter picking, emptying bins, street sweeping, and vegetation clearance.
• Manage weed control and respond proactively to environmental concerns within local communities.
• Operate various mechanical equipment used in maintenance and cleaning activities.
• Support other service functions, including responding to adverse weather conditions when necessary.
• Work under the direction of the Streetcare team leader to fulfill daily operational responsibilities.

Candidate Attributes and Experience

• Demonstrate a motivated and dependable work ethic with pride in delivering high service standards.
• Be capable of working outdoors in all weather climates efficiently and safely.
• Possess good communication skills and a positive interpersonal attitude.
• Have prior experience in manual labor; experience in street cleansing, grounds maintenance, or environmental services is highly advantageous.
• Commit to health and safety protocols, strong customer care, and effective teamwork.

Location and Working Conditions

You will operate within the Council's Streetcare Service at various depot locations including Dinas, Tŷ Glantaf, and Cynon Valley, with duties extending across the County Borough as required.
