Role Summary
The Storekeeper serves a vital role in maintaining storeroom operations, overseeing stock management and purchasing activities to support smooth operations within the facility. This position is responsible for accurate inventory control, timely storage and issuance of supplies, maintaining detailed records both physical and digital, and collaborating closely with finance and procurement functions to ensure inventory needs are met efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate inventory records by updating physical counts, receipts, adjustments, and returns within the computerized inventory system.
- Ensure all stock received is properly stored and correctly documented in collaboration with the Receiving and Finance teams.
- Promptly issue stock to various departments based on approved requisitions.
- Manage supply levels within prescribed minimum and maximum thresholds to avoid stock shortages or surpluses.
- Keep meticulous records related to stock receipts, withdrawals, and inventory movements.
- Handle packing, pricing, labeling, and the process of returning supplies when necessary.
- Implement stock rotation practices and coordinate disposal of surplus or obsolete items.
- Supervise freight handling, equipment relocation, and minor maintenance tasks.
- Create purchase orders for replenishing stock items as required.
Qualifications and Skills
- Basic understanding of accounting principles related to inventory management.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to coordinate effectively across departments.
- Organizational prowess and capable administrative skills for accurate record keeping.
- Good business sense to support procurement and stock decisions.
- Proficient computer literacy for use of inventory and documentation systems.
