Join our team at Pet Valu, a prominent pet retail operation in North America, with locations including Pet Valu, Paulmac's Pet Food, Bosley's, Tisol, and Total Pet. Our stores serve families providing food and supplies for dogs, cats, birds, fish, reptiles, and small animals, while actively supporting local animal shelters and charities through adoption events and food bank programs.
Job Summary
As a Store Manager based in Fort McMurray, Alberta, you will guide and nurture your store team to offer exceptional customer service, assisting pet owners in selecting the best nutrition and solutions for their pets. This role offers development opportunities within a passionate community of pet specialists.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure team members consistently meet high customer service standards and maintain positive community relations, including partnerships with organizations like the Humane Society.
- Lead recruiting, scheduling, training, supervising, and coaching of store employees.
- Maintain adherence to corporate operational standards and procedures.
- Manage administrative tasks such as order placement, inventory control, store and safety audits, minor repairs coordination, and paperwork completion.
- Drive store staff efforts to achieve business objectives and sales targets.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Candidate Profile
- At least two years of experience in customer service and retail store management.
- A passion for learning and professional growth within the pet care sector.
- Friendly and outgoing personality with strong customer service capabilities.
- Willingness and ability to work scheduled shifts including weekends and evenings.
- Reliable transportation to commute to the store.
- Skills in coaching staff on sales techniques and outstanding customer service.
- Aptitude for recognizing and managing team conflicts, escalating issues appropriately.
- Familiarity with Point of Sale (POS) systems.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly.
- Previous industry experience considered advantageous.
