Job Summary

The Assistant Store Manager will guide and develop the store team to deliver exceptional customer service and assist customers with pet nutrition and product choices. This role suits those passionate about animals and interested in growing their career in one of North America's leading pet retailers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure staff meet customer service standards and foster positive community relationships (e.g., with Humane Society).
  • Manage recruitment, scheduling, training, task delegation, supervision, and coaching of store employees.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate operational standards and procedures.
  • Handle administrative duties including order placement coordination, inventory control, store and safety audits, minor repairs, and corporate paperwork.
  • Lead team efforts to achieve sales and business goals.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • At least 2 years of experience in customer service and retail store management.
  • Motivated and eager to learn and develop within the pet care industry.
  • Friendly, outgoing personality with excellent customer service skills.
  • Available to work scheduled shifts, including weekends and evenings.
  • Reliable transportation to and from the store.
  • Capable of observing and coaching employees on sales and customer service methods.
  • Ability to understand and manage team conflicts, escalating issues as needed.
  • Familiarity with POS systems.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly.
  • Previous experience in the pet industry is advantageous.
