Kennards Self Storage takes pride in delivering exceptional customer experiences and maintaining facilities that instill pride in our teams. We operate a significant self storage business in New Zealand and seek a motivated, experienced Storage Centre Manager for our Auckland CBD location.
Role Overview
This permanent, full-time position involves managing the day-to-day operations of the Auckland CBD storage facility, balancing customer service, sales, team leadership, financial oversight, security, and maintenance responsibilities. You will own the centre's performance and customer satisfaction.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and ensure an outstanding customer experience, making customers feel valued and welcome.
- Handle customer enquiries, provide tailored storage solutions, and convert prospects into customers.
- Supervise daily facility operations, ensuring all records and customer documentation are accurate and current.
- Manage rental accounts, including chasing overdue payments and processing refunds per company guidelines.
- Oversee financial matters such as banking, reconciliations, accounts management, and regular reporting.
- Collaborate with the Operations Manager on budgeting, cash flow forecasting, advertising, and business growth activities.
- Monitor centre performance and generate operational and financial reports.
- Maintain robust security measures across the facility, performing routine checks and addressing security issues promptly.
- Ensure cleanliness, safety, and upkeep of the facility grounds, storage units, customer areas, office, gates, fencing, and infrastructure.
- Coordinate repairs, maintenance schedules, and liaise with contractors as necessary.
- Engage with customers, suppliers, contractors, and local authorities as required.
- Support ancillary product sales, maintain stock levels, and accurate records.
- Work jointly with the Assistant Manager to develop and enhance the centre team's capabilities.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, health and safety standards, and operational procedures.
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience in management, supervisory, or operational roles focusing on strong customer service and communication.
- A track record of managing daily operations and accepting accountability for results.
- Well-developed organizational and administrative skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficiency with computer systems and aptitude for learning business management software.
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Capability to handle financial administration, budgeting, and reporting.
- Leadership skills with the ability to support and nurture team members.
- A proactive mindset and capacity to confidently work with minimal supervision.
- Background in self-storage, facilities management, property, retail, or hospitality sectors is advantageous.
- Possession of a current New Zealand Class 1 driver's license or equivalent is preferred.
Working Hours and Conditions
This is a full-time permanent position with an average of 37.5 hours per week. The Auckland CBD centre operates every day of the week, and the role requires participation in a fortnightly rotating roster, including work every alternate weekend.

- Annual base salary of $72,000
