Job description
Job Overview
The Stocker role is responsible for delivering timely and courteous service to customers while ensuring shelves are well-stocked and aisles remain clean. This position operates within the Floor Department under supervision of floor management personnel and is designated as non-exempt.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide friendly and prompt customer service.
- Unload boxes from pallets, place items on shelves, open boxes, and replenish single items.
- Rotate products to ensure freshness and prevent expired merchandise.
- Organize and front-face products to maintain visual appeal.
- Conduct necessary inspections compliant with HACCP standards.
- Assist in daily inventory reviews focusing on product rotation to reduce shrinkage and damage.
- Verify shelf pricing accuracy reflecting current market conditions.
- Maintain aisle cleanliness through regular scheduled maintenance including scrubbing and cleaning under pallets.
- Regularly monitor the floor for safety hazards and promptly manage spills and debris removal.
- Notify supervisors quickly regarding low or out-of-stock items.
- Perform additional duties and support other departments as required.
Qualifications and Skills
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with customers, coworkers, and supervisors.
- Basic literacy in reading and arithmetic.
- Dedication to company values and exceptional customer service commitment.
Physical Demands
- Use of steel-toe boots required.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs frequently and overhead carry of 50 lbs.
- Repeated lifting/carrying tasks requiring 20 to 50 lbs capacity multiple times per hour.
- Horizontal push and pull strength up to 500 lbs.
- High agility, manual and finger dexterity (80-100%).
- Physical postures include constant standing/walking, frequent bending/stooping, occasional reaching, climbing, kneeling, and squatting.
Work Environment
- Predominantly moderate temperatures with some exposure to refrigerated and freezer areas.
- Presence of moving equipment such as forklifts, electric pallet jacks, and scooters.
