Job description
Overview
The Steward plays a crucial role in upholding the highest standards of sanitation, cleanliness, and operational readiness within the stewarding department. This role supports all kitchen, restaurant, bar, meeting, event, and back-of-house areas by ensuring all equipment, utensils, and workspaces meet ultra-luxury hospitality standards in line with Rosewood's brand and local regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain stewarding operations aligned with Rosewood brand, Forbes standards, LQA, HACCP, and local health codes.
- Clean and polish crockery, cutlery, glassware, cookware, kitchen tools, and equipment to hotel specifications.
- Safely operate dishwashing machinery to guarantee uninterrupted support of hotel operations.
- Organize and maintain all stewarding equipment in excellent working condition and ensure proper storage.
- Keep stewarding spaces, kitchens, dining areas, bars, event venues, and back-of-house areas clean and orderly.
- Complete daily and deep cleaning tasks as assigned to uphold sanitation standards.
- Sanitize all food contact surfaces per established procedures.
- Dispose of waste and recyclables in compliance with hotel policies and environmental guidelines.
- Assist with setting up and dismantling equipment for meetings, events, and other operational needs.
- Report any damaged equipment, maintenance issues, or hygiene concerns promptly for resolution.
- Ensure availability of sufficient clean equipment throughout service periods.
- Follow guidance from team leaders and managers to help maintain seamless daily operations.
Financial Accountability
- Handle equipment carefully to minimize losses and damage.
- Use cleaning chemicals judiciously to prevent waste.
- Report missing or broken equipment immediately.
- Support inventory checks for stewarding stock and supplies when requested.
- Promote responsible use of departmental resources and assets.
- Contribute to cost control efforts through proper maintenance and care of hotel property.
Collaborative and Professional Conduct
- Assist stewardship leadership in operational duties daily.
- Work cooperatively with Culinary, Food & Beverage, Engineering, Housekeeping, and other departments.
- Maintain a professional appearance, grooming, and behavior at all times.
- Exhibit a positive attitude and readiness to support operational needs.
- Engage in ongoing training and skill development.
- Follow instructions efficiently and report operational issues promptly.
- Cultivate teamwork and flexibility by supporting various operational areas based on business requirements.
Additional Responsibilities
- Adhere strictly to Rosewood company policies and hotel procedures.
- Perform additional tasks within role’s scope as necessary to meet business demands.
- Serve as a brand ambassador, upholding brand integrity and reflecting company culture, mission, and values.

- Support technological adoption that enhances operational efficiency.
- Maintain clear, effective communication inside and between departments.
- Identify training needs through daily interactions and observations.
