Job Overview
The Night Steward plays a pivotal role in supporting the overnight stewardship operations by upholding exceptional standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and readiness across all operational areas in line with Rosewood's luxury brand standards. This role includes working in kitchens, dining venues, bars, events spaces, and back-of-house departments to ensure all areas are thoroughly cleaned and prepared for the next day's activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute thorough overnight cleaning and sanitation of kitchens, restaurants, bars, meeting spaces, and support areas according to planned schedules.
- Clean and polish all kitchenware including crockery, cutlery, glassware, and utensils to meet hotel quality specifications.
- Operate dishwashing machinery safely and efficiently ensuring equipment readiness for daily operations.
- Maintain all kitchen and operational equipment, floors, walls, drains, extraction systems, storage zones, and surfaces to a high sanitary standard.
- Carry out scheduled deep cleaning tasks as directed by stewardship management.
- Properly store and maintain all operational equipment in excellent condition.
- Manage waste disposal including recycling, grease, and refuse in accordance with hotel policies and sustainability practices.
- Report any broken equipment, maintenance issues, hygiene problems, or pest activity promptly.
- Ensure the entire stewarding area is organized, clean, and operationally ready before the start of the morning shift.
- Assist with urgent overnight operational or cleaning requests as needed.
- Collaborate closely with team leaders and managers to achieve seamless overnight operations aligned with hygiene and safety standards.
Financial Responsibility
- Handle all equipment responsibly to reduce breakage and loss.
- Use cleaning chemicals in a safe, efficient manner following manufacturer instructions and hotel guidelines.
- Notify management about missing or damaged equipment without delay.
- Contribute to inventory management of stewarding tools and supplies when requested.
- Practice resource conservation to help control costs and minimize waste.
Team Collaboration and Conduct
- Support overnight operational goals working in cooperation with Culinary, Food & Beverage, Engineering, Housekeeping, Security, and other departments.
- Maintain professional appearance, grooming, and conduct at all times.
- Demonstrate positive attitude and willingness to assist operational needs.
- Participate actively in ongoing training to enhance knowledge and skills.
- Complete assigned tasks efficiently and communicate operational concerns promptly.
- Promote teamwork and flexibility by supporting various operational areas as needed.
Compliance and Company Standards
- Adhere strictly to Rosewood policies, brand standards, Forbes and LQA requirements, HACCP, and local health regulations.
- Act as a brand ambassador reflecting company vision, values, and culture consistently.
- Support adoption of technology and procedures that improve efficiency.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding company, guest, and associate information to safeguard operational integrity.
- Follow health, safety, and emergency protocols diligently to ensure a secure working environment.
- Report hazards and incidents as per established procedures.
