Steward

Position Overview

The Steward role involves operating and maintaining various cleaning equipment such as dishwashing machines, hand wash stations, pot-scrubbing stations, and trash compactors. The incumbent is responsible for cleaning and disinfecting kitchen, storage rooms, tables, tools, knives, and equipment. Duties include accepting deliveries, storing perishables correctly, rotating stock, and ensuring all cleaned items are properly stored.

Key Responsibilities

• Utilize detergents, rinsing, and sanitizing agents in a three-compartment sink to wash dishes thoroughly.
• Inspect, stack, and send back soiled items requiring re-scrubbing or re-washing.
• Spray racked items with hot water to remove food residues efficiently.
• Sort, soak, and wash or re-wash silverware.
• Break down dirty bus tubs and manage waste by emptying trashcans and maintaining the dumpster area.
• Clean and mop all assigned departmental areas, dispose of glass in appropriate containers, and break down cardboard boxes for recycling.

Safety and Teamwork

• Adhere to all company safety and security policies; promptly report maintenance issues, accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions to management.
• Complete necessary safety training and certifications.
• Protect company assets and foster clear, professional communication with colleagues.
• Develop positive working relationships and support the team to achieve shared objectives.

Physical Requirements

• Handle physical tasks such as moving, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and placing items up to 50 pounds independently.
• Maintain physical stamina for prolonged periods of standing, sitting, or walking.
• Perform movements including bending, twisting, pulling, stooping, and reaching both overhead and below the knees.

Preferred Qualifications

• No high school diploma or GED is required.
• No prior related work or supervisory experience is necessary.
• No specific licenses or certifications are required.
