Job description
Overview
We invite a dedicated Commis Cook to join the breakfast kitchen team at The Singapore EDITION, located at 38 Cuscaden Road. This full-time, non-management role involves preparing meals with precise attention to quality, presentation, and standards, while contributing to an exceptional dining experience through teamwork and professional conduct.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare specialized meals and substitute menu items as needed, maintaining correct temperature control of ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters.
- Manage food thawing processes by transferring items from freezer to refrigerator.
- Ensure portions, arrangements, and garnishes meet quality and presentation standards.
- Maintain accurate food logs and monitor quality and quantity of prepared food.
- Communicate effectively during busy periods to request assistance and inform the Chef about surplus food for daily specials.
- Inform food and beverage staff about special menu items and stock availability.
- Prepare and cook foods according to recipes, quality guidelines, and presentation checklists, including cold food preparations.
- Support management with hiring, training, scheduling, performance evaluation, counseling, and motivation of employees; serve as a positive role model.
- Follow all company policies, safety and security procedures, report maintenance or safety concerns, and complete necessary safety training.
- Maintain a professional personal appearance and protect company confidentiality and assets.
- Anticipate guest needs and communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues and guests.
- Foster positive working relationships and teamwork to achieve common goals, addressing employee concerns appropriately.
- Ensure adherence to expected quality standards at all times.
- Physically capable of standing, sitting, walking for extended periods, bending, twisting, reaching overhead and below the knees, and handling objects up to 25 pounds without assistance.
- Perform other reasonable duties as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications
- Educational background preferably in Technical, Trade, or Vocational School.
- Minimum of three years working experience related to culinary or kitchen duties.
- No requirement for supervisory experience or specific certifications/licenses.
