Steward

Role Overview

This position involves operating and maintaining various cleaning equipment such as dishwashing machines, hand wash stations, pot-scrubbing stations, and trash compactors. The steward is responsible for washing and sanitizing kitchen and storage areas, including tables, tools, knives, and equipment. Receiving deliveries, proper storage of perishables, and stock rotation are key duties.

Key Responsibilities

• Clean dishes using detergent, rinse, and sanitizing chemicals in a designated 3-compartment sink.
• Inspect, stack, and ensure cleaned items meet quality standards; send soiled items for re-cleaning.
• Spray racked items with hot water to remove food residues and manage silverware washing.
• Maintain bus tubs by breaking down dirty ones, emptying trashcans, and dumpster upkeep.
• Clean and mop all relevant areas including disposal of glass and recycling materials such as cardboard boxes.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures, report any maintenance issues, accidents, or unsafe conditions to management.
• Engage professionally with team members, contributing to a collaborative and supportive environment.
• Handle physical tasks including lifting, carrying, reaching, bending, and standing for extended periods as required.
• Perform additional reasonable duties as directed by supervisors.

Qualifications and Experience

• No minimum educational requirement; high school diploma or GED not necessary.
• No prior related work or supervisory experience required.
• No certifications or licenses needed for this role.
