Steward

Position Overview

This role involves operating and maintaining kitchen cleaning equipment such as dishwashing machines, hand wash stations, pot-scrubbing stations, and trash compactors. The steward is responsible for thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting kitchen and storage areas, including surfaces, tables, tools, knives, and equipment.

Key Duties

• Receive incoming deliveries, properly store perishable items, and manage stock rotation.
• Clean dishes using detergent, rinse, and sanitizing chemicals with a 3-compartment sink system.
• Inspect cleaned wares for quality, restack or resend items needing additional washing.
• Rinse all racked items thoroughly to remove food residue using hot water spray.
• Sort, soak, wash and rewash silverware as required.
• Break down dirty bus tubs and maintain cleanliness of trashcans and dumpster areas.
• Clean and mop assigned departmental areas.
• Dispose of glass properly and recycle cardboard and other materials by breaking down and placing them in designated bins.

• Adhere to all company safety and security policies and promptly report hazards, maintenance needs, accidents, and unsafe conditions.
• Complete safety related training and certifications as required.
• Safeguard company property and assets.
• Communicate professionally and clearly with colleagues and management.
• Maintain positive working relationships and provide team support to achieve collective goals.
• Meet quality standards and expectations consistently.
• Physically handle objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance, and perform tasks involving standing, sitting, walking, bending, twisting, pulling, stooping, and reaching overhead and below the knees.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications

• Educational background is open; no high school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• No prior related work or supervisory experience necessary.
• No license or certification required for this role.
