Steward

Job Summary

The steward will be responsible for operating, maintaining, and cleaning kitchen equipment and tools such as dishwashing machines, hand wash stations, pot-scrubbing areas, and trash compactors. Duties include washing and disinfecting kitchen and storage areas, tables, tools, knives, and equipment to ensure hygiene and cleanliness. The role also involves receiving deliveries, correctly storing perishables, and rotating stock to maintain quality standards.

Key Duties

• Operate cleaning equipment including dish washers and trash compactors.
• Disinfect kitchen and storeroom areas and clean tables, tools, knives, and equipment.
• Manage deliveries and proper storage of perishable goods while rotating stock.
• Clean dishes using detergent, rinse, and sanitizing solutions in a 3-compartment sink.
• Inspect and sort cleaned items, re-wash soiled items, and handle silverware washing and re-washing.
• Break down dirty bus tubs and manage waste by emptying trashcans and maintaining the dumpster area.
• Clean and mop assigned department areas, properly dispose of glass and recyclable materials.

Physical Requirements

• Lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
• Stand, sit, or walk for prolonged periods.
• Bend, twist, stoop, and reach overhead or below the knees regularly.

Qualifications

• No formal education or prior work experience required.
• No supervisory experience or licenses necessary.
