Staff/Senior Engineer CE PYE (Physical Failure Analysis/Fault Isolation)

We are seeking passionate individuals to join our Central Engineering (CE) - Product Yield Enhancement (PYE) team as Failure Analysis (FA) Engineers. In this role, you will provide comprehensive fault isolation and failure analysis support for qualifications, customer returns, new device introductions, and test failures. You will become an expert in fault isolation and physical failure analysis techniques and collaborate with Product Engineering teams to identify electrical failures. This position requires a solid grasp of product architectures, process flows, and test sequences, as you will engage closely with Process Integration, Product, Test, and Quality Reliability Assurance teams to identify and classify physical defects.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct advanced electrical device characterization to identify failure mechanisms.
• Utilize fault isolation equipment to precisely locate defect areas causing failures.
• Perform physical failure analysis to detect and categorize physical defects.
• Develop hypotheses on potential electrical or process failure mechanisms based on detailed electrical failure models and physical analyses, aiding process enhancement.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams from frontend and backend areas and partners such as the Global Quality department to resolve defect-related challenges.
• Present detailed reports on electrical and physical failure mechanisms regularly to facilitate ongoing improvements.
• Innovate and deploy novel fault isolation and failure analysis methodologies to maintain industry leadership.
• Lead and mentor a team of CE PYE technicians, fostering a collaborative and high-achieving team culture.
• Oversee maintenance and ensure high operational uptime of fault isolation and analysis equipment for optimum performance.
• Incorporate AI-assisted tools and insights responsibly, enhancing efficiency, quality, and effectiveness while following organizational and legal guidelines.
• Drive continuous improvement by identifying, evaluating, and sharing AI-enabled process advancements within your scope.

Qualifications and Skills

• Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field (Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD).
• Demonstrated ability to function as a strong team member with exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities and a strong ambition to excel.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills suitable for delivering complex information in large forums.
• Strong motivation and commitment to innovation and quality.
• Experience with fault isolation equipment, techniques, and physical failure analysis is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of NAND, DRAM, or HBM devices and semiconductor fabrication processes is an advantage.
• Willingness and ability to participate in shift rotations as needed to support operations.
• Competence in foundational digital skills and role-appropriate AI literacy to leverage AI-enabled tools for research, analysis, content creation, problem-solving, and operational tasks while adhering to ethical standards.
