About the Team
The International Technology team supports Walmart's warehouses, stores, and eCommerce operations globally, focusing on markets outside the US. Their platforms serve over 5,900 retail units across 26 countries under various banners.
Role and Responsibilities
- Architect, develop, test, and release innovative scalable backend solutions impacting millions worldwide.
- Collaborate within an agile, high-performance team to generate and implement new ideas effectively.
- Partner with engineers and product leaders to shape the design and vision of web and mobile products.
- Lead full product delivery ownership while mentoring junior developers.
- Engage with Walmart engineering teams globally to share expertise and contribute to the technical community.
- Conduct root cause analysis on applications to resolve business challenges and pinpoint improvement areas.
- Incorporate industry research to advance Sam’s technology infrastructure.
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field with over 12 years of experience.
- In-depth understanding of Service Oriented Architecture and proven implementation of RESTful web services.
- Expertise in Java programming including JVM internals, concurrency, and multithreading.
- Strong skills in Java and Spring framework coding and design.
- Hands-on development using Java, J2EE, Spring Boot, Hibernate, and JAX technologies.
- Sound knowledge of algorithms, data structures, database systems, and SQL.
- Experience with storage and data technologies like Cosmos DB, Elastic Search, Hive, Cassandra, Hadoop, and Kafka is advantageous.
- Cloud development proficiency.
- Familiarity with front-end technologies such as HTML5, JavaScript, CSS3, AJAX, GraphQL, React Native, React, Redux, Webpack, and Node.js is beneficial.
- Background in designing scalable and highly available distributed systems in production.
- Understanding of stream processing technologies, particularly Kafka.
- Solid grasp of software engineering best practices including CI/CD, log aggregation, monitoring, and alerting in production environments.
- Strong experience in production support, including issue identification and resolution.

Minimum Qualifications
- Option 1: Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field plus 4 years of software engineering experience.
- Option 2: 6 years of software engineering experience without degree.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a related computer science or engineering field plus 2 years' software engineering experience.
