Job description
Overview
Join our team to develop and maintain core Kotlin libraries that support hundreds of thousands of developers around the world. You will deepen your expertise in specialized computer science and software engineering domains while contributing to design decisions for the Kotlin API and advancing standard Kotlin tools, language features, and specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and sustain essential Kotlin core primitive libraries.
- Engage as an expert in particular areas of software engineering and computer science.
- Participate actively in the design committee guiding the evolution of the Kotlin API.
- Contribute to the creation of standard Kotlin tools, language specifications, and feature development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing on the JVM platform with deep knowledge of the Java standard library internals.
- In-depth understanding of your specialized domain.
- Competence in composing detailed design documentation for complex systems, clearly explaining trade-offs and decisions.
- Skills in performance engineering and API design.
Additional Details
Ideal candidates enjoy deep technical explorations such as thoroughly analyzing standards like Unicode, investigating language-specific string and byte transformations, evaluating complex timezone changes in APIs, optimizing interface hierarchies for JIT performance, and iterating documentation extensively.
