About the Role

We aim to revolutionize global information usage to enhance life universally. Join our diverse team dedicated to excellence through innovation, empowering breakthrough technologies like virtual reality and neural networks while upholding principles of integrity, sustainability, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the site’s strategy and yearly roadmap for Real-Time Defect Analysis (RDA) aligned with NAND Technology Development nodes.
  • Analyze both experimental and production flows to identify, classify, and monitor systematic and random defects over time.
  • Define, track, and communicate key program health metrics, including baseline conditions, detection efficiency, false positives, and Mean Time To Repair (MTTR).
  • Manage quick containment actions for defect spikes, including tool quarantines, defining hold standards, and steering 8D corrective action processes.
  • Design inspection procedures and sampling plans optimizing sensitivity, throughput, and ownership costs.
  • Collaborate with Process Integration, Yield, and Data Science teams to connect inspection results with device performance and yield outcomes.
  • Influence vendor roadmaps by assessing, qualifying, and implementing next-generation optical and electron beam inspection technologies.
  • Promote and standardize Best Known Methods across global Technology Development and manufacturing teams.
  • Mentor and develop engineers, fostering succession planning and growth within the RDA specialty.
  • Advocate for safety and continuous improvement initiatives such as kaizen and lean projects to accelerate cycle times and learning rates.

Technical Leadership Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical authority for RDA methods and deployment within the NAND Technology Development sector.
  • Conduct root cause analysis utilizing statistical, imaging, and data-driven techniques.
  • Develop and own inspection technology roadmaps and communicate progress effectively.
  • Establish program health criteria and champion continuous improvement activities.
  • Lead investigations of tool anomalies, quarantine protocols, and corrective action implementations.
  • Work with global teams to synchronize Best Known Methods across all sites.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work alongside Technology Development Process and Integration groups.
  • Partner with Yield Analysis and Data Science organizations.
  • Coordinate with Global Manufacturing and Operations.
  • Engage with inspection and metrology equipment suppliers.
  • Communicate with program and engineering leaders worldwide.

Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 7 years in semiconductor industry experience; or Master’s/PhD degree with at least 5 years’ relevant experience.
  • At least 1 year of hands-on experience with Real-Time Defect Analysis in semiconductor manufacturing or equipment engineering.
  • Proven expertise in defect inspection, process monitoring, and yield enhancement.

Technical Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of Real-Time Defect Analysis systems and workflows.
  • Experience with optical and electron beam inspection technologies.
  • Strong command of statistical data analysis and the interpretation of large datasets.
  • Background in semiconductor process integration and technology development.
  • Proficiency in root cause investigation and systematic problem-solving methodologies such as 8D and DMAIC.

Leadership and Behavioral Attributes

  • Established technical expert able to influence without formal authority.
  • Dedicated mentor and coach with track record of successful talent development.
  • Effective communicator, capable of conveying information clearly to both technical teams and executives.
  • Results-driven with strong ownership and adaptability in uncertain environments.

Performance Goals

  • Minimize yield loss due to defects and shorten learning cycles.
  • Ensure timely qualification and rollout of advanced inspection tools.
  • Enhance organizational RDA expertise and nurture succession pipelines.
