Job description
About the Role
Micron Technology is a global leader in memory and storage innovation, dedicated to advancing how information is utilized to enhance lives universally. This opportunity is for a Staff Layout Designer with over 7 years of expertise in layout design, primarily working with analog and mixed-signal circuits.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement high-quality layout designs while understanding and respecting design constraints.
- Expertly use Cadence VXL for periphery block layouts.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Layout vs Schematic (LVS), Design Rule Check (DRC), and overall layout integrity.
- Create layouts for critical analog blocks including Temperature sensors, PLLs, ADCs, DACs, LDOs, Bandgaps, Reference Generators, Charge Pumps, Current Mirrors, Comparators, and Differential Amplifiers.
- Apply a strong grasp of analog layout principles such as device matching, electromigration, latch-up prevention, and managing coupling, crosstalk, IR-drop, along with active and passive parasitic effects.
- Evaluate how layout influences circuit parameters like speed, capacitance, power consumption, and silicon area.
- Coordinate the layout process by managing floor-planning, placement, and routing activities.
- Ensure designs comply with rigorous design rules and specifications to deliver layouts that meet quality standards.
- Deliver mid-size blocks integrating signal routing and floorplanning within core/pitch and periphery areas.
- Collaborate with design and cross-functional engineering teams to apply diverse layout techniques for arrays, digital, and analog circuits.
- Perform secondary layout tasks such as Engineering Change Orders (ECO), Local Change Orders (LCO), and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) implementations.
- Partner with Technical Directors, Designers, CAD teams, and layout engineers to ensure timely, high-quality deliveries.
- Demonstrate problem-solving skills to debug challenges and negotiate solutions effectively among engineering teams.
- Maintain adherence to engineering and process criteria relevant to assigned NAND memory products.
- Organize resources and logistics to meet fixed deadlines, proactively developing resolution strategies for arising issues.
- Understand circuit design methodologies, fabrication processes, mask generation, and tape-out procedures thoroughly.
- Mentor junior engineers to foster professional growth and knowledge sharing.
- Drive innovation for upcoming memory technology generations within a dynamic and evolving work environment.
- Experience supporting multiple tape-outs is advantageous.
- Leverage automation and artificial intelligence tools to enhance layout efficiency and quality.
