About the Role
Join Walmart Global Tech India in Bengaluru as a Staff Data Scientist to innovate at the crossroads of e-commerce and technology. This team partners directly with Walmart U.S. stores and eCommerce sectors, focusing on enhancing customer experiences through cutting-edge technology. The role involves leveraging generative AI, machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, and optimization techniques to transform customer interactions with Walmart's search and recommendation systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and apply advanced machine learning models, including deep neural networks and Bayesian methods.
- Create scalable data science solutions capable of operating at Walmart’s large scale.
- Collaborate across engineering, science, and business teams to deliver effective solutions addressing business challenges.
- Define and monitor model performance metrics and assess their impact on business outcomes over time.
- Communicate complex analytical findings clearly to business stakeholders to guide decision-making and future strategies.
- Mentor junior team members while managing multiple simultaneous projects.
- Engage with academic institutions and industry partners to encourage innovation within the team.
- Contribute to machine learning research through peer reviews and publishing work in premier ML/AI conferences.
- Represent the company at external forums, technical summits, and research conferences.
- Advocate for company values, ethics, and promote adherence to policies.
Required Qualifications
- PhD with over 5 years experience, or Master’s with more than 8 years, or Bachelor’s with over 10 years in relevant data science roles.
- Educational background in computer science or a quantitative discipline.
- Experience driving machine learning advancements by applying best practices and keeping up with industry research.
- Ability to integrate data science solutions into existing business processes.
- Skilled in establishing process standards and ML best practices tailored to retail industry needs.
- Strong consulting skills with business units across stores and e-commerce sectors to operationalize algorithmic recommendations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Expertise in recommender systems and deep learning applications, particularly in computer vision.
- Familiarity with large language models (LLMs).
- Experience within the e-commerce domain.
