Job description
Position Overview
As a Staff Cafeteria Supervisor at Le Méridien Hotels & Resorts in Lusail, Qatar, the selected candidate will be responsible for ensuring effective teamwork among staff to deliver optimal service and fulfill guest requirements. This includes overseeing staff grooming standards, opening and closing procedures, and maintaining cleanliness and organization of all cafeteria areas and equipment.
Key Duties
- Ensure team collaboration to provide excellent service and meet guest demands.
- Inspect employee grooming and attire, addressing any shortcomings promptly.
- Perform opening and closing operations such as preparing supplies, cleaning equipment, and securing facilities.
- Monitor storage areas for hygiene, orderliness, and adherence to FIFO inventory management.
- Conduct regular inventory checks, manage stock levels, and requisition necessary items.
- Oversee dining room seating availability, safety measures, and guest comfort.
- Complete maintenance work orders as needed to ensure facility upkeep.
- Support management in recruitment, training, staff scheduling, performance evaluations, counseling, disciplinary actions, employee motivation, and coaching.
- Serve as a role model and first contact for the Guarantee of Fair Treatment/Open Door Policy procedures.
- Adhere strictly to company safety and security policies; report incidents and unsafe conditions to managers; complete required safety training and certifications.
- Maintain professional appearance and confidentiality, protect company assets.
- Welcome guests warmly, anticipate their needs, assist individuals with disabilities, and express genuine thanks upon departure.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues and guests.
- Foster positive team relations, support team objectives, and appropriately address employee concerns.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards and contribute ideas to enhance efficiency, productivity, safety, and cost effectiveness.
- Read and verify information in various formats; visually inspect tools and machines for defects.
- Perform physical tasks including prolonged standing/walking, moving objects up to 50 pounds, and navigating confined or elevated spaces.
- Carry out any reasonable additional tasks assigned by supervisors.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum education: High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
- At least two years of relevant work experience in food and beverage or a related field.
- A minimum of one year in a supervisory role.
- No specific licenses or certifications required.
