Job description
About the Role
An established technology firm based in Cambridge, UK, specializing in high-volume computing and embedded systems, is expanding their team. They are seeking an experienced STA Engineer to contribute throughout the chip development lifecycle, from initial design to silicon delivery and final product launch. The team is small, enabling significant exposure and direct influence on product development outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting comprehensive full-chip and block-level static timing analysis for complex ASIC and SoC designs.
- Leading timing closure efforts across all design implementation phases, from synthesis through to final sign-off.
- Investigating and resolving timing issues, including setup, hold, clock gating, and signal integrity concerns.
- Creating detailed timing constraints and ensuring the use of precise timing models and methodologies.
- Collaborating closely with Physical Design, RTL Design, and Verification teams to optimize performance, power, and area (PPA).
- Supporting sign-off operations including STA, timing verification, and preparation for silicon bring-up.
- Diagnosing and addressing complex timing challenges specifically at advanced process nodes.
Candidate Requirements
- Strong academic credentials in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or closely related fields.
- Demonstrated professional experience in Static Timing Analysis, Physical Design, or ASIC implementation.
- In-depth understanding of timing closure techniques and sign-off workflows for advanced ASIC and SoC projects.
- Familiarity with industry-standard EDA tools such as Synopsys PrimeTime, Design Compiler, and place-and-route software.
- Experience with sophisticated semiconductor products, preferably in AI, HPC, or data center sectors.
- Proficiency in scripting languages like Tcl, Perl, or Python for automation of timing analysis and enhancement of design processes.
- Strong communication skills and the capability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
