Role Description

You will work with a talented team of engineers and architects to design and develop safety and location-based capabilities integrated across Apple devices.

Key Responsibilities

• Leverage your public safety expertise to solve complex challenges related to emergency response, collaborating with hardware and systems engineers to develop technologies like Enhanced Emergency Data, Emergency SOS via satellite, and crash detection features.
• Coordinate closely with multiple internal cross-functional teams within Apple.
• Engage with external partners including government agencies, emergency response centers, regulators, and industry groups to promote understanding and expansion of Apple’s emergency safety technologies in various markets, which may involve travel for face-to-face interactions.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of ten years' experience in public safety sectors such as law enforcement, fire services, emergency medical services, communications, or search and rescue.
• In-depth experience including legislative knowledge relevant to Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) operations, particularly in East Asia/Pacific, South and Central America, or South Asia.
• Basic understanding of cellular network systems within emergency response workflows.
• Strong knowledge of public safety system architectures involving emergency voice/text communications, caller location services, dispatcher tools like CPE, CAD, mapping, and radio, plus preferably integration of additional data such as medical ID or telematics.
• Experience in adopting new technologies in PSAP or field responder settings and facilitating training or change management efforts for telecommunicators and responders.
• Willingness and ability to travel as needed for partnership engagements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Interest and enthusiasm for safety technology innovations.
• Familiarity with location technologies such as GPS/GNSS and public safety communications standards, regulations, and training.
• Effective communication skills within dynamic, collaborative, multidisciplinary teams.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred but not mandatory.
• Keen on continuously acquiring new skills, techniques, and methods.
• Eager to gain exposure across all product lifecycle stages including development, prototyping, planning, designing, launching, marketing, and scaling.
• Attention to meticulous details affecting end users and emergency responders.
