Role Overview

Oaks Queenstown Shores Resort is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Sous Chef to join their culinary team full-time. The role involves supporting the Head Chef while steering and mentoring the kitchen staff to consistently deliver high-quality dining experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with, guide, and support kitchen team members to ensure dish quality and consistency.
  • Monitor and evaluate kitchen staff performance to maintain superior standards and uniformity of culinary products.
  • Contribute to menu development and conduct cost analyses to ensure profitability.
  • Control inventory and manage expenses related to food and labor in the kitchen.
  • Establish processes to maintain high standards in presentation, sanitation, service, and product quality.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and food standards.
  • Lead recruitment, onboarding, training, and scheduling of kitchen personnel.
  • Develop and adjust recipes to accommodate various dietary preferences, restrictions, and allergies.

Working Hours

  • Immediate start available
  • Rotational roster covering Monday through Sunday
  • Both morning and evening shifts offered

Qualifications and Experience

  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification.
  • At least two years of experience as a Sous Chef.
  • Strong leadership abilities with a proven track record in motivating and managing a diverse culinary team.
  • Capable of performing effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness and flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
