Solution Architect - Snowflake

About the Role

Join EY's dynamic team as a Snowflake Solution Architect where you will lead cutting-edge data engineering and integration initiatives. This role involves designing cloud-based data architectures, crafting data ingestion and transformation pipelines, developing data models and products, and creating intuitive user interfaces leveraging data visualization and natural language processing. You will also mentor junior colleagues and provide technical leadership to foster continual growth within the team.

While the primary office location is Wellington (Te Whanganui-a-Tara), candidates in Auckland (Tāmaki Makaurau) or Christchurch (Ōtautahi) are also welcomed, with flexible and reduced hour options available upon discussion.

Key Responsibilities

• Design Snowflake solution architectures tailored to client needs.
• Develop robust data models and build scalable data pipelines for data ingestion and transformation.
• Integrate Snowflake platforms with complementary ecosystem tools.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to translate data requirements into effective technical solutions.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior team members promoting continuous improvement.
• Maintain awareness of emerging industry trends and technologies to keep the team at the forefront of data engineering.

Skills and Qualifications

• Demonstrated expertise implementing Snowflake platforms.
• Strong understanding of data platform solution architecture design principles.
• Proficiency in a variety of data modeling methodologies.
• Experience with building scalable and reliable data pipelines.
• Ability to write optimized SQL queries.
• Skill in integrating Snowflake with various data processing frameworks.
• Familiarity with Snowflake Horizon Catalog is advantageous.
• Competence with programming languages such as Python, Java, and Scala preferred.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of tackling complex data challenges.
• Effective communicator, able to express technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
• Proactive team player with a passion for leveraging data to achieve business objectives.
• Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring junior staff valued.
