Role Overview

The Software Sales Specialist at HP partners closely with account teams to provide expert guidance on software offerings, fostering account expansion from initial lead generation through final negotiation and closure. This position emphasizes cultivating robust relationships with key decision-makers, comprehending customer challenges, and delivering customized software solutions tailored to business requirements.

Key Duties

  • Identify and research potential customers within the targeted market segment, continuously building a pipeline of new prospects via methods such as cold calls, networking, events, and online tools.
  • Perform thorough needs assessments to understand client business challenges and determine how HP’s software products can fulfill these needs effectively.
  • Communicate the business benefits software delivers, including return on investment, competitive advantages, and unique value propositions to prospective clients.
  • Collaborate with technical and pre-sales teams to craft customized proposals addressing client specifications.
  • Manage contract negotiations adeptly, overcome objections, and finalize deals to meet or exceed sales targets.
  • Maintain precise documentation of all sales interactions and activities using CRM systems; analyze sales data to detect trends and opportunities for enhancement.
  • Lead and coordinate cross-cultural, multi-business unit teams to ensure outstanding customer support.
  • Develop and sustain strong executive-level customer relationships.
  • Stay current on industry developments, emerging technologies, and competitor positioning; share insights internally to optimize software offerings and sales approaches.
  • Emphasize the ROI and business value of HP’s software solutions relating to specific customer challenges and goals.
  • Approach prospecting with strategic intensity and urgency to reach qualified leads and meeting targets.

  • Proven capability to lead cross-functional teams for effective client support.

  • Proficient in sales stages including prospecting, lead generation, needs analysis, solution presentation, proposal development, negotiation, and closing.
  • Familiar with CRM platforms and sales analytics tools.

Demonstrates curiosity and confidence in adopting emerging technologies, particularly AI, to enhance sales efficiency, customer engagement, and productivity. Quickly learns and integrates digital tools and AI-driven insights to enable smarter decision-making and personalized customer interactions.

Education and Experience

  • Preferred education: Bachelor’s degree, though not mandatory.
  • Minimum of seven years in direct or strategic sales experience focusing on enterprise software, cloud services, or virtualization across diverse industries.
  • Experienced with cloud software sales, including familiarity with major providers such as Microsoft, AWS, and Google, along with tools like Nexthink and 1E.
  • Ability to navigate complex matrix organizations and collaborate effectively with sales, technology consultants, and global business units.
  • Well-versed in leveraging technology solutions to address business challenges and drive market opportunities.
  • Demonstrated track record in managing sales processes and cultivating customer partnerships.
  • Deep understanding of market trends and converting those insights into actionable business outcomes.
