About the Role
Join Dell Technologies' Infrastructure Solutions Group (ISG) as a Software Principal Engineer specializing in HyperScale AI Storage Systems. ISG develops the critical products that power infrastructure and data management at scale, delivering platforms, applications, and diagnostics essential for enterprise customers worldwide. This role involves innovative AI-embedded software development for enterprise-grade, massively scalable, clustered, and resilient storage systems, including multi-petabyte S3 object stores and scale-out NAS platforms. Located in Cork, Ireland, this position offers an opportunity to work alongside AI to amplify engineering impact and shape future technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage in all phases of the software development life cycle: planning, requirements gathering, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
- Draft and maintain comprehensive technical specifications with clarity and precision.
- Collaborate closely with product owners, architects, AI agents, and fellow engineers to develop innovative technical solutions.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to junior team members, fostering their professional growth.
Candidate Profile
Essential Qualifications:
- Minimum of five years' proven programming experience, ideally with C, C++, Java, or Python, together with solid understanding of programming principles.
- Demonstrable expertise in filesystems and distributed system architectures.
- Strong ability to convert business requirements into detailed, unambiguous technical specifications.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills, including analytical thinking and debugging proficiency.
- Proficiency in advanced AI prompt engineering to effectively guide AI tools toward desired outputs.
- Experience in software architecture encompassing system design, API development, microservices, and distributed systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Background in performance engineering to optimize system efficiency.
- Familiarity with storage systems and protocols such as NFS, SMB, S3, networking concepts, kernel and filesystem queues, and caching mechanisms.
- Experience utilizing machine learning and AI for anomaly detection, pattern recognition, and orchestrating AI agents.
