Software Engineer - Splunk

About the Role

This position involves developing software aligned with Cisco's Design Thinking Principles, emphasizing simplicity and user experience, while adhering to secure coding protocols and software development best practices. The Software Engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including design and product management to deliver customer-centric solutions. Responsibilities also include drafting technical and user documentation, resolving software issues throughout development and production, fostering product innovation, and improving development workflows.

Key Responsibilities

• Address straightforward business challenges related to operations, products, and customer services.
• Analyze information thoroughly, ask clarifying questions, and verify comprehension using established procedures.
• Effectively build and maintain relationships within the team and collaborate on project tasks.
• Work on small to medium-scale features from technical design to delivery, applying agile methodologies across the software lifecycle.
• Write clean, functional code and unit tests under guidance, participate in code reviews, and incorporate feedback.
• Debug, test, and troubleshoot code segments during development; ensure secure coding compliance.
• Monitor and respond to incident reports, engage in postmortem reviews, and assist in on-call rotations as needed.
• Specialize in one component of the codebase and share self-acquired knowledge with peers.
• Estimate task durations accurately, communicate progress and obstacles, and proactively resolve blockers to meet deadlines.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree plus at least 2 years of relevant work experience, or a Master's degree with no prior experience required.
• Fundamental grasp of technical theories and principles; exposure to contemporary technologies through academic coursework or internships.
