Job description
About the Team
The Cisco Collaboration Design team is pioneering the future of user experiences across both hardware and software platforms. This global, interdisciplinary group of designers, researchers, and technologists is passionate about creating products that enhance how people collaborate. Our culture fosters creativity and supports meaningful, impactful work.
Role Overview and Responsibilities
We seek a Product Designer skilled at simplifying complex systems into clear, user-friendly solutions. You will work closely with product managers and engineers to balance user needs, technical constraints, and business goals, delivering intuitive, dependable, scalable, and accessible experiences. Key activities include:
- Designing comprehensive user experiences for the Collaboration software portfolio.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams—product managers, engineers, architects, researchers, and fellow designers—to craft user flows, interaction models, and production-ready designs.
- Investigating how AI-powered and agentic workflows can enhance user experiences without compromising ease of use or trust.
- Developing prototypes ranging from quick explorations to refined concepts for stakeholder engagement, usability testing, and engineering handoff.
- Utilizing Cisco’s design system to maintain consistent, scalable interfaces while identifying gaps or new patterns especially for calling-specific needs.
- Adopting emerging technologies and AI tools to boost creativity and efficiency.
- Documenting interaction behaviors, accessibility standards, edge cases, and design rationale for engineering and product teams.
- Fostering alignment across teams through effective storytelling, systems thinking, and practical design decisions.
Required Qualifications
- At least 4 years of professional experience in product, UX, or digital interface design focused on software applications.
- A strong digital portfolio showcasing UX/product design case studies, interaction models, and complete user workflows.
- Proficiency with design and prototyping tools such as Figma, including wireframing, component libraries, and interactive prototypes.
- Knowledge and application of digital accessibility standards (like WCAG) and ability to prepare detailed specifications for engineering.
- Experience successfully collaborating with Product Management and Engineering throughout the product lifecycle.
Preferred Qualifications
- Expertise in AI and agentic design, including workflows supported by automation, intelligent recommendations, or agentic software.
- Experience designing for multi-platform ecosystems including desktop, web, mobile, and hardware-integrated devices.
- Understanding of complex enterprise environments including administration, provisioning, compliance, security, or collaboration platforms.
- Familiarity with AI design tools to accelerate exploration, prototyping, research analysis, and workflow creation while balancing human-centered design judgment.
- A mindset oriented towards problem shaping: comfortable defining issues before refining solutions by asking deep questions, mapping complicated workflows, and involving the right stakeholders to propel projects forward.
