Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Software Engineer to support and advance the Invoice Simple platform, which equips microbusiness owners with accessible tools to initiate and expand their operations. Serving hundreds of thousands of satisfied users through top-rated iOS, Android apps, and a web platform, Invoice Simple aids contractors, freelancers, creatives, and small business owners by facilitating time savings, organization, and a professional image—enabling them to manage their businesses effectively on their own terms.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the Invoice Simple platform strategy by implementing new features and performing maintenance tasks.
- Take ownership of CI/CD workflows, deployment processes, and automation of infrastructure tasks.
- Engage comprehensively in software development including gathering requirements, designing solutions, coding, testing, and deployment.
- Collaborate with application teams to refine service architecture, optimize deployment strategies, and enhance production environments.
- Enhance system reliability, availability, observability, and prepare the environment for operational readiness.
- Utilize and promote industry-leading tools to boost team effectiveness and deliver outstanding customer experiences.
- Work cooperatively with team members, demonstrating reliability and competency.
- Participate in incident analysis and lead initiatives to prevent recurrence of issues.
Required Skills and Experience
- Curiosity-driven and data-oriented approach with a desire to ask insightful questions.
- Minimum of 5 years professional experience in software development.
- Solid understanding of software engineering principles and production system development.
- Proficient with a major cloud provider, preferably Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Strong knowledge of distributed systems, networking, database technologies, and cloud infrastructure architecture.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and container-based infrastructure deployments.
- Proficiency in TypeScript for writing type-safe, well-structured code.
- Good grasp of JavaScript tooling and ecosystem.
- Experience working with both SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective interpersonal and communication capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Deeper understanding of JavaScript tools and ecosystem.
- Familiarity with native mobile development platforms.
- Experience designing internal developer platforms or self-service infrastructure tools.
- Expertise in ensuring database reliability and performance, especially with PostgreSQL or MongoDB.
- Knowledge of financial operations (FinOps) and cloud cost management.
- Experience working in regulated environments with security and compliance standards like PCI DSS, SOC 2, or similar.
- Familiarity with modern deployment practices such as progressive delivery, feature flagging, canary deployments, and automated rollbacks.
Additional Details
This role is fully remote within Canada, though proximity to one of the company’s offices allows for optional office presence. Eligibility to work in Canada without sponsorship is required. Occasional travel to corporate headquarters in Denver, Colorado, or other North American locations may be necessary.

Compensation
The expected salary range for this position is between 110000 and 130000 Canadian dollars annually. Compensation considerations include job responsibilities, candidate experience, education, key skills, peer equity, market data, and geographic location.
