Software Engineer - Jira Cloud Administration

Overview

We are seeking a Software Engineer specializing in Jira Cloud to manage and enhance our Jira environment. The role focuses on refining workflows, automating processes, and optimizing Jira configurations to facilitate smooth project management and team collaboration.

Primary Duties

• Manage and maintain the Jira Cloud instance, including user administration, permission settings, and project setup.
• Design, implement, and refine workflows, custom fields, screens, and permission schemes to ensure they reflect business requirements.
• Develop and sustain automation through Jira Automation, scripting, and REST API integrations to reduce manual tasks and increase efficiency.
• Integrate Jira with other enterprise systems such as Confluence, GitHub, and ServiceNow.
• Work with stakeholders to understand their needs and convert them into scalable Jira solutions.
• Monitor Jira system performance, resolve issues promptly, and maintain project data accuracy.
• Create thorough documentation for configurations, automation scripts, and recommended procedures to ensure maintainability.
• Provide coaching and support to end users to promote effective use of Jira capabilities.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, STEM, or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum of 3 years’ practical experience managing Jira Cloud in a live environment.
• Advanced proficiency in scripting languages such as Python and JavaScript, focused on automation and integration tasks.
• Experience constructing Jira automation workflows and implementing custom integrations using REST APIs and webhooks.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Jira workflow design, permission configurations, issue type management, and project templates.
• Exposure to CI/CD methodologies and version control tools like Git.
• Understanding of software development lifecycle processes.
• Preferred experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Google Cloud Platform.
• Familiarity with enterprise IT infrastructures and adherence to security and compliance standards.
• Strong analytical abilities combined with effective problem solving and communication prowess.
