Team Overview
The Service Excellence (SE) team develops and maintains tools and infrastructure that allow engineers to effectively monitor and operate production systems. Within this team, the Monitoring & Observability (MOT) group manages observability components such as metrics, logs, traces, alerting, and dashboards utilized across the company's engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Developing and managing a metrics platform that collects, stores, and serves time-series data to all engineering groups.
- Supporting distributed tracing solutions, including OpenTelemetry pipelines, trace sampling, and Honeycomb, to assist engineers in diagnosing issues.
- Creating alert quality tools that enhance signal accuracy, reduce noise, improve alert routing and grouping, and establish feedback loops between alerts and responsible teams.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- A genuine curiosity in understanding how production systems function, with some experience in service deployment, operations, or debugging.
- Adaptability to work across various technology stacks, including distributed systems, Kubernetes, observability pipelines, and web interfaces, with a willingness to learn new skills as needed.
- Knowledge of observability principles such as logging, alerting, and on-call procedures.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, enjoying troubleshooting and diagnosing issues.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with engineers company-wide, articulating work clearly, and seeking assistance when necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using observability tools and infrastructure.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes environments.
- Background in Agentic engineering.
