Overview

Wells Fargo, a global financial services leader with $2 trillion in assets and a presence in over 37 countries, seeks an experienced Lead Software Engineer. Based in Hyderabad, India, this role demands significant expertise in designing and delivering scalable technology solutions, particularly in data engineering within cloud environments. Candidates will contribute to building secure, optimized data platforms aligned with modern enterprise needs, fostering innovation, governance, and best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead significant and broad-reaching technology initiatives across the company.
  • Develop and enforce engineering standards and best practices for complex, large-scale technological solutions.
  • Design, implement, test, debug, and document software projects and programs.
  • Evaluate and analyze intricate technology solutions addressing tactical and strategic business and enterprise challenges involving unprecedented technical considerations.
  • Drive decisions on engineering standards based on industry-leading practices and emerging technologies, influencing and guiding technology teams toward deliverables and new initiatives.
  • Collaborate with senior technical experts and external industry groups to solve complex technical problems and meet organizational goals.
  • Lead project teams or fulfill mentoring responsibilities for peers and junior members.
  • Architect and implement scalable data lake and data platform solutions using Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Develop and enhance batch and streaming data pipelines using modern cloud-native technologies.
  • Create resilient frameworks for data ingestion, transformation, and processing.
  • Work with identity and access management (IAM), security, and analytics groups to integrate identity and access data into the platforms.
  • Ensure data governance, integrity, and quality throughout the data lifecycle.
  • Develop reusable software components and frameworks primarily using Python.
  • Optimize data models, query strategies, and partitioning in BigQuery.
  • Integrate data platforms with enterprise applications such as IAM tools, privileged access management (PAM), and human resources systems.
  • Implement secure data access patterns consistent with enterprise IAM policies.
  • Support performance tuning and optimize costs for cloud-based data workloads.
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and establish best practices in data modernization efforts.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentor less experienced team members.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of software engineering experience, demonstrated through professional work, formal training, military service, or education.
  • 8 to 10 years of experience specializing in data engineering or backend development expected.
  • Extensive hands-on knowledge of Google Cloud Platform services such as BigQuery, Dataflow/Apache Beam, Cloud Storage, and Pub/Sub.
  • Strong proficiency in Python programming is mandatory.
  • Expertise in designing and implementing scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and modern data lake architectures.
