Job description
Company Overview
Established in 1997 and headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, PRI Global operates extensively across the USA, India, and the Philippines, delivering advanced IT consulting, software engineering, and workforce solutions across sectors including financial services, healthcare, retail, and engineering. The company fosters a diverse and inclusive workplace, providing equal opportunities to all employees.
Benefits for employees based in India:
- Comprehensive health insurance covering self, spouse, and two dependent children up to 25 years.
- Paid leave entitlements including sick leave, privilege leave, and casual leave.
- Statutory benefits such as Provident Fund, ESIC, and leave encashment.
Role Overview
The Senior Software Engineer plays a critical role in developing and advancing patient support features by creating and refining RESTful microservices using Go and/or Java with Spring Boot. These services are supported by PostgreSQL databases and deployed via Azure Kubernetes Service utilizing containers, Helm charts, and CI/CD pipelines. The role requires close collaboration with business analysts and QA teams, support for SIT/UAT phases with vendors, and maintaining rigorous standards for quality and communication throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Adapt and excel in a rapid delivery environment with evolving priorities and timelines.
- Interpret requirements and design inputs to internalize business rules, implementing them within service code, APIs, and configuration files rather than isolated scripts unless specified.
- Collaborate with business analysts to clarify scope and business logic, proactively raising queries and documenting decisions, assumptions, and gaps.
- Adhere to coding standards and team protocols, including conducting code reviews, maintaining formatting, managing module boundaries, and ensuring logging and audit requirements are met.
- Develop and sustain automated test suites and prepare test documentation for QA handoff as needed.
- Coordinate with testing teams during UAT phases by addressing defects, clarifying issues, and delivering timely fixes.
- Support user acceptance testing alongside multiple vendors, assisting with defect triage, environment verification, and data/setup guidance within established policies.
- Participate in scheduled calls during EST morning hours with project managers, business analysts, and stakeholders.
- Demonstrate accountability through proactive communication, transparent progress reporting, and timely escalation of risks and blockers.
- Build and uphold effective working relationships with engineering teams, leadership, and client stakeholders.
- Foresee potential delays or quality concerns, keeping all stakeholders informed with updates, alternatives, and solutions.
- Meet SLAs and agreed-upon quality and support expectations for owned components and releases.
- Analyze incidents and frequent issues to propose and implement preventive measures such as enhanced tests, monitoring, runbooks, and code improvements.
- Identify and drive process improvements and automation opportunities within governance frameworks, including CI checks, deployment hygiene, and reducing operational toil.
- Provide regular status updates to teams and stakeholders as per project requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (B.E., B.Tech, BCA, B.Sc.) or equivalent diploma.
- 7 to 8 years of professional experience in software development focused on distributed systems or enterprise applications.
- Experience mentoring or leading junior engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, pairing sessions, and ownership of quality.
Mandatory Skills and Experience
- Proven production experience with at least one language: Go or Java with Spring Boot, capable of owning end-to-end feature development in assigned services. Preference is to consider Java primary and Go secondary unless specified.
- Expertise in REST API development, covering design, validation, error handling, security best practices, and maintainable layer architecture.
- Strong PostgreSQL skills including SQL proficiency, effective use of transactions, constraints, and performance optimization at the application level.
- Proficiency with Git and collaborative version control workflows including merge/pull requests and meaningful code reviews.
- Familiarity with Azure fundamentals relevant to application teams, including Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Container Registry, and CI/CD identity and secret management patterns.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines (such as GitLab CI) including build, test, artifact/image promotion, and environment-based deployment strategies.
- Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities, demonstrating curiosity, process awareness, and adherence to service levels.
- Flexibility to work across Go and Spring Boot codebases depending on evolving project needs.
- Strong communication and influencing skills across teams including engineering, QA, business analysts, project management, and external vendors.
- Ability to independently manage complex issues and confidently engage in client and offshore/onshore communications.
Preferred Skills
- Deep expertise in the secondary stack (either Spring Boot or Go).
- Knowledge of OAuth2, JWT, and API gateway integration patterns consistent with platform standards.
- Experience with observability tools including structured logging, metrics collection, distributed tracing, and utilizing dashboards such as Grafana for incident management.
