Role Summary
The Software Engineer at Eyeline collaborates closely with Pipeline Leads, Supervisors, and artists to support and enhance our Houdini-based production workflows. This role requires familiarity with entire production pipelines, providing both troubleshooting and contributing to the development of new tools that align with evolving production demands. The role emphasizes creating intuitive, well-documented workflows suitable for users of varying skill levels, while also ensuring smooth handling of large and complex scenes.
Key Responsibilities
- Address a range of challenges related to Production pipeline workflows, from routine issues to complex problems.
- Develop high-quality, maintainable, and well-tested Python code for pipeline tools.
- Collaborate effectively with artists to quickly identify and resolve workflow issues within a fast-paced production environment.
- Contribute to the creation of technical briefs and comprehensive user documentation.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum 3 to 4 years of experience supporting full departmental workflows in a production environment, ideally using Houdini as the primary DCC; knowledge of Maya and Nuke is advantageous.
- Proficiency in Python for maintaining and improving pipeline tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills focused on resolving artist workflow challenges.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to facilitate documentation and collaboration.
- Understanding of core programming principles and ability to work within pre-existing codebases.
- Familiarity with version control systems, particularly git.
- A systematic approach to testing and validating workflow solutions.
- Capability to comprehend complex production pipelines and address artist requirements effectively.
