Role Overview

This role involves direct leadership of engineering teams to design and deliver backend and frontend products that empower workforce management and employee mobility worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and implement the technical strategy for workforce products serving associates and managers, judiciously balancing feature rollout, compliance across multiple countries, and operational scalability.
• Develop and enhance tools for managers and HR leaders to access performance, scheduling, and feedback insights using cutting-edge AI-driven interfaces and self-service dashboards integrated with upstream data sources.
• Collaborate with senior architects and principal engineers to make critical architectural decisions on service migration, data pipelines, and cross-regional deployments compliant with regulations in over 25 countries.
• Lead a team of 10 to 15 software engineers responsible for building backend systems, data processing layers, and front-end experiences used daily by thousands of Amazon managers.
• Recruit and nurture engineering talent, elevate technical standards through thorough design and code reviews, operational readiness assessments, and mentorship.
• Drive architectural modernization and optimize costs via strategies like decomposing monolithic applications and transitioning to cloud-native platforms.
• Ensure operational excellence including on-call responsibilities, incident management, data quality assurance, and compliance with security standards for systems handling sensitive employee information.
• Partner with product management and stakeholders to translate user experience needs into engineering plans that optimize speed, quality, regulatory adherence, and cost-effectiveness.

About the Team

The Workforce Solutions team is a cross-functional group focused on delivering people-centric technology that supports corporate recruiting and workforce management globally. The team develops AWS native solutions across the recruitment cycle—from candidate interaction to job fulfillment—emphasizing equitable and user-friendly experiences. The group encourages open idea exchange, adaptability in achieving goals, and values inclusivity and diversity.

Mandatory Qualifications

• Deep understanding of software engineering best practices across the development lifecycle including coding conventions, reviews, source control, builds, testing, certification, and live operation handling.
• Proven experience managing engineering teams.
• Strong engineering background.
• Demonstrated leadership in designing and building multi-tier web services.
• Experience collaborating with product and program management functions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Excellent communicator capable of articulating requirements, product features, technical designs, and strategic direction to users, technical peers, and leadership.
• Track record of recruiting, mentoring, and managing software engineering teams to enhance skills and productivity.
