Software Development Manager - AWS FinTech

Overview

This role focuses on leading the development of internal software platforms, web services, and applications that streamline project collaboration, program management, goal tracking, and overall business processes for leadership planning and analysis throughout the company. The tools provided support lifecycle management of commitments through centralized data collection, compliance auditing, and comprehensive reporting, aiming to maintain Amazon’s definitive source for top-level planning and commitments.

The applications managed by this team are crucial internal resources at Amazon, with AWS as a primary demanding customer, relying on these systems as mission-critical. A strong emphasis lies on delivering exceptional and engaging user experiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead and cultivate a team of software developers to build world-class systems supporting Amazon's global operations.
• Maintain rigorous standards in code quality, maintainability, and high performance.
• Champion engineering best practices ensuring designs are highly available, scalable, and resilient to continuity threats.
• Drive architectural and design decisions while innovating new features.
• Foster a culture of ownership around product vision, technical architecture, and on-time project delivery.
• Develop in-depth understanding of customer business workflows and success metrics to shape team objectives.
• Work closely with team members and cross-functional organizations to architect solutions and meet goals effectively.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years managing engineering teams.
• At least 7 years of engineering experience.
• Over 8 years designing and developing multi-tier web services.
• Expertise in software/hardware/network development cycles including standards for coding, code reviews, source control, builds, testing, certifications, and live operations.
• Experience collaborating with product and program management.
• Strong background in architectural design covering design patterns, system reliability, and scalability of new and existing software.
• Preferred experience communicating technical designs and product strategy to users, technical teams, and senior leaders.
• Track record in recruiting, mentoring, and elevating software engineering teams.
