Overview
We are seeking a passionate Software Development Engineer to join Esri's R&D Center in Sharjah, UAE, where we implement advanced AI, deep learning, and large language model (LLM) techniques to transform geospatial analysis and extract valuable insights from imagery data. Esri is a global leader in geographic information systems (GIS), known for ArcGIS, which powers 75% of Fortune 500 companies' mapping and analytics needs.
Role Responsibilities
- Design and build tools, APIs, and pretrained models facilitating deep learning (DL) and LLM workflows applied to imagery data.
- Create foundational models targeting computer vision, language, location, and multimodal geospatial datasets.
- Develop intelligent AI agents and assistants to automate and enhance imagery-related tasks.
- Produce and maintain sample applications demonstrating AI and LLM use cases within various ArcGIS platforms.
- Conduct comparative analyses of diverse AI model architectures to address complex challenges involving imagery data.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of two years hands-on experience programming in Python within data science, deep learning, or LLM domains.
- Self-driven learner with extensive expertise in machine learning, deep learning, and large language models.
- Strong proficiency in one or more of the following: computer vision using traditional and deep learning methods (including image classification, object detection, semantic/instance segmentation, GANs, super-resolution, image inpainting), transformer models for vision and natural language processing, AI assistant/agent development, and building or fine-tuning multimodal foundation models.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related fields from premier institutions such as IITs or equivalent top-tier engineering colleges.
- Valid work authorization to employ within the UAE.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leveraging deep learning techniques on satellite imagery or geospatial datasets.
- Familiarity with ArcGIS products and underlying GIS principles.
- Documented practical experience translating deep learning theory into code via significant projects, whether internships, research, or personal endeavors.
- Expertise constructing and orchestrating multi-agent AI systems using frameworks like LangGraph, with a focus on model fine-tuning, safety measures, and data-driven performance evaluation.
