Senior Software Engineer

Overview

Join Resideo as a Senior Software Engineer where you will play a pivotal role in developing the next generation of connected security and intelligent building solutions. Your leadership will drive the evolution of security video products integrated into the broader Resideo ecosystem, including security panels, thermostats, water leak sensors, and other smart devices.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, document, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance robust software products that are commercially viable.
• Foster effective communication and contribute to building a high-performing engineering team.
• Provide technical leadership, including defining architecture, making design decisions, and setting engineering standards.
• Adopt a platform-driven approach to create quality code adaptable for multiple products from a unified codebase.
• Work extensively with live video streaming, recording, event detection, device connectivity, and managing video data at large scale.
• Design dependable event-driven integrations between security cameras and IoT devices.
• Ensure security and privacy by safeguarding customer data, device access, video streams, and associated cloud services.
• Build reliable, observable, and high-performance systems with strong error recovery capabilities.
• Collaborate closely with product management, UX, firmware, cloud, and security teams to translate ideas into real-world customer solutions.
• Mentor and guide other developers through coaching, code reviews, and technical leadership.
• Align your technical work with Resideo’s mission to help customers protect their most valued assets.
• Apply Agile and Scrum methodologies, actively participating in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog grooming, reviews, and retrospectives to enhance the firmware development process.
• Be prepared for periodic travel to the United States and Asia as required.

Mandatory Qualifications

• Over 5 years of software development experience.
• At least 3 years proficiency in object-oriented programming using C and C++.
• Minimum of 3 years working experience with Linux, preferably embedded Linux utilizing Yocto.
• Background in embedded product development.

• Experience with AI-driven development workflows, with an eagerness to leverage AI for engineering improvements.
• Capability to strategically decompose high-level requirements into detailed and actionable technical plans.

• Experience in embedded Linux firmware particularly for security video and connected device products.
• Understanding of image processing, computer vision, and video-related features.
• Knowledge of integration among security cameras and other smart home products such as security panels and thermostats.
• Open, collaborative mindset ready to share knowledge and support team members.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities paired with attention to detail.
• Familiarity with Git version control and GitHub Actions automation.
• Experience using Jira and Confluence for planning and documentation.
