Software Development Engineer II, S3 Routing and Blob Placement

Work with Amazon S3's massive storage system managing trillions of objects with millisecond retrieval times and design software deployed across tens of thousands of servers, achieving extreme durability of 99.999999999%. Amazon S3 provides the web services infrastructure that allows developers to store and fetch unlimited data securely, reliably, and efficiently from any location.

As a Software Development Engineer on the S3 team, you will contribute to innovations that power services used worldwide, enhancing daily lives by enabling content delivery, remote work technologies, travel planning tools, and e-commerce logistics.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, deploy, and maintain cutting-edge software solutions to enhance performance, efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and availability.
• Apply software engineering best practices to uphold rigorous quality standards for all team outputs.
• Create high-quality distributed system software suited for large-scale applications.
• Operate within agile development frameworks, prioritizing impactful initiatives.
• Collaborate closely with team members and maintain clear communication in various group settings.

Basic Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of professional software development experience (excluding internships).
• At least 2 years experience in designing or architecting both new and existing systems, with expertise in design patterns, reliability, and scalability.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years experience covering the entire software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, version control, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or an equivalent field.

Compensation and Benefits

The position offers a base salary ranging between 114,800 and 191,800 CAD per year, depending on experience, qualifications, and location. Additional compensation elements may include sign-on bonuses and restricted stock units (RSUs).
